It's morning on Arakis.

I needed coffee so badly this morning that while spooning the grounds into the filter, I unconsciously said, out loud, "The spice must flow."

Naims

Continuing my trend of "New Drag Name" (which I've realized is the gay version of "New Band Name")...

New drag names from recent conversations:

  • Panti Maim
  • Bath Salts
  • Bitchy Tweeting

Monday night highlights

We entertained a fun friend of Barney's tonight, an Irish resident of New Zealand and all around fun person. It's been ages since I've been Out on a Monday. ARSP brought back fond memories, and some sadness, when she noted, "I miss 80s Night." Trivia and tunes. Those were the Mondays.

Memorable lines from the evening:

"My God this drink burns! What did you put in it? Holy water?"

"Underwear night needs more Mormons."

slinging in the rain

Question: Hey, do you think I should start a line of rain wear called "For Reals?"

"Do you know any notaries?"
"I don't think so. My friends are more of 'yes'terries."

burning through their youth

He really doesn't like children being in adult spaces in the City. He thinks children should be kerosene and not heard.

loving cup

I went into the office kitchen to brew a pot of coffee, but since it's just me drinking it alone and it's Valentine's Day, I made a pot of bourbon.

Rob was a fraternity brother in college, later a roommate in Nashville, and at one point fairly hip to the gay scene. He works for a church in the midwest now, where he lives with his wife and three little girls. Our lives have little in common, but we remain in touch via Facebook.

I sometimes wonder what my slap-happy homo/adventurous San Franciscan posts look like to my more conservative friends.

It didn't occur to me that their posts can take an out-of-context meaning for me too.

And just in time for Bear Weekend!

Do Not Shave the Bears

Seriously: Do not shave the bears.

après-hensive

Speaking of injuries, rainfall, and Tahoe:

"After I tore up my knee, I had to give up skiing,  But I'll never give up après ski."

timely

I've been calling my mother a lot recently to check on her during the snowy weather. And we discuss what we're doing, and avoiding.

Actual sentence from my mom right now: "Oh, there was an article about procrastination in the paper. I cut it out but haven't read it yet."

And scene.

hack!

This cough syrup might be made from coughs.

Gross.

if I had a nickel for every time...

Overheard:

"I think I need a new therapist. I've been going for a year and still feel fat and crazy."
"I've been going to the same therapist for over ten years and I'm still fat and crazy."
"That's hardly a ringing endorsement of therapy."
"Yeah, but I'm not unhappy about it any more."

four soft tacos

How drunk are you? On a scale of "One" to "Taco Bell?"

downward facing dog

I think he's putting me on.

I don't think that "thrusting whore" is a real yoga pose.

no wonder

It's a polyamorous day with Mary.

No wonder that it's Mary whom we love.

I just realized that my routine "You say that to all the boys" is the gay version of "That's what she said."

holesome exercise

After the big holiday dinner, I think it's healthy to engage in late-afternoon pick-up games with the boys. The boys back in Tennessee used to play touch football. I'm hoping my San Francisco boys are up for a little good-touch/bad-touch football.

Dilly Apitated

The gay "resort" was so old and run down that the drag queen in residence was named Deferred Maintenance.
