mostly hostly

Since New Year's Day, it has been an endless medley of friends and friends of friends flocking to San Francisco.

It's January.

I was surprised that this has become the new peak visit SF season, then I look at the national weather forecasts. Sure, there are still nights here I have to get out a wool sleeping cap, but these past few weeks have seen record-setting warm weather days and nothing is more gorgeous than SF on a clear sunny day. I love it when friends come to town, and I am comfortable in the role of host, but this is just getting ridiculous.

In January we had some lovely kids in from Nashville and New York. Last week we had the super fabulous Bryan Rusciano out here for MacWorld,

immediately followed by a special Mystery Guest who rocked our sunny SF weekend and left me a puddle of exhausted laughter and disbelief. The next morning brought the return of the Amazing Dr. Barney, a long lost friend whose return to SF for work/play lasted only about 30 hours.

This week Klaus returns, followed by Wiff, then Iris. Honestly, I've got to find some time to spend with my friends that actually live here.

In the spirit of being a good host, and to answer many e-mails with one response, following posts will include short travel guides to San Francisco for the casual traveler popping in, and invariably asking for suggestions as to food, lodging, points of interest and resources.
