Those cook kids over at Alameda High School are putting on The Laramie Project. And it looks like the wingnuts over at Westboro Baptist/Fred Phelps/Got Hates Fags are going to be there to intimidate the kids. There is a call out for a counter protest to buffer the high school players from the Phelps clan.
I think it's a great idea and want to turn it into a party.
But I want to avoid a confrontational counter-protest. I've suggested that the supporters bring signs not against the haters, but signs that make them look like the fool that they are.
Signs like this one, where one guy stood with the "God Hates Fags" signs with one that read "God Hates Signs."
Awesome.
I want to make other signs mocking the "America is Doomed" sign with one that reads "America is Domed!" with an image of the Capitol building. And one with a silhouette of Montana reading "Gays Go to Helena!"
Update: The Phelps clan has canceled their visit.
