Not tonight Dear, I have a beak-ache.

I can always rely on the BBC for thoughtful, important news reporting.

The Daily Mail, however, not with the so much.

However, I do admire their restaint while reporting on a recent study involving foul sex acts chicken mating habits and using the formal "cockerel" to refer to the male bird in their headline, instead of the usually truncated term.

Sex in the morning stops a passionate cockerel's feathers flying at night
Birds tired of their partners pestering them for nookie at night offer them sex in the morning, according to a new study. Hens would rather succumb to the amorous advances of cockerels in the morning than try and fight them off after a long day pecking at corn.
