Like a lot of these videos, I can't watch it without tearing up. But I think it hits closer to home for the kids out in rural states and who may live miles and miles from a neighbor much less a gay-friendly city or community.
I love my gay rodeo community, and I recognize a dozen or so good friends who participated in this video (in face, that's the awesome Allen Register in the poster frame). The Golden State Gay Rodeo Association, the California state gay rodeo association that is a member of the IGRA, had their state-wide board meeting in SF this Saturday, so we had some fun rodeo parties and fundraisers all weekend—starting with a meet-and-greet/show/fundraiser at Marlena's and ending with last night's White Trash Beer Bust at the Edge (best satire number: "My Dental Dam's Busted").
Shouts out to all of my lovely and loving rodeo peeps in this video. I can't imagine my reaction if I had seen then this when I was an isolated closet case in eighth grade.
