The Friends of the San Francisco Public Library are hosting another Imbibe event—a cocktail party with literary types in the library—this month.  The March event at the newly renovated Harvey Milk/Eureka Valley Branch was fun, and the next Imbibe event will be held at the newly renovated Marina branch on June 17th.  I'll still be in Nashville and unable to attend, but I can heartily recommend the event.  It's a good time for free drinks, a tour of a revitalized public space devoted to the benefit of its citizenry, and you can be reasonably assured that the guests will be an articulate, or at least literate, bunch.

And if you are the sort of person who gets along with books better than people, you have the built-in conversation opener "So, what are you reading?"
