Imbibe: Dewey drops of cocktails

The Friends of the San Francisco Public Library organization has been producing some fun events for the Friends, most recently the lovely IMBIBE evening at the Eureka Valley (aka Castro) Harvey Milk Memorial Branch. The crowd at this event, featuring beer and wine from New Belgium Brewing, tea and vodka from Blue Angel Vodka and eats from Ike's, skewed a but more geriatric than other events, and I found it sort of humorous to see crowds of gray folks under signage "Teens" and "Children."

Photographer Natalie Schrik was there to capture the imbibing-biblio love, and the Friends staff provided a box of props accessories for patrons to pose with their favorite books.

Local (very local, as in branch) librarian and casual book hottie Dominic lightened the shoot considerably by placing the "hot gay men" collection in easy reach of the props and most patrons opted against looking for their favorite book in favor of collections of male nudes and gay erotica. Some of it was quite classic, especially the early 70's graphic how-to for Men Loving Men which found it's way into my hands after my initial shoot with the also handy (although not in the same way) Essential Calvin and Hobbes.

Dominic certainly made the evening. He's your friendly neighborhood librarian. I might have to check him out.

Hot librarian, check him out.
