Rodeo Drag-A-Thon 2011

Although I could not/would not compete this year, the Rodeo's annual Drag-A-Thon is always a blast.  This year was no exception, and I was astounded to see Travis and Popper up in heels for their first time—neither of whom could I recognize on stage.

I know the above photo is pretty bad, but I was having a heard time capturing the action with the iPhone, and the other decent photo is in a less than lady-like position. Popper was HILARIOUS and put on one hell of a performance for having no rehearsal and buying his shoes the same day.

Popper is one tall lean hunk of cowboy, and I am still having a hard time reconciling my mental image of him and his drag persona together in my head. The following Sunday I was at Sundance Saloon and leaning against the stage, situated between the legs of a handsome and very flirty man sitting on the stage. I was talking to Ed Morgan, friend and President of the SF Bay Area Chapter of the Golden State Gay Rodeo Association, telling him how great I thought his husband's performance was and it was too bad he couldn't make it to Sundance that night.

It turns out he was the man between whose legs I was sitting. If I thought I couldn't recognize Popper in drag, he is equally anonymous beardless.
