Lots of action in Nashville this weekend, with both the CMA Fest and Bonaroo. The Nashville Scene has a great primer on Bonaroo for the uninitiated, and always good coverage of the CMA scene.
Locals, however, tend to avoid both. Some of us still refer to the CMA Festival as Fan Fair. However it has gotten bigger and bigger with amazing lineups all around town. If you can get into town that is. CMA Fest is a traffic quagmire. And as great as the scheduled acts are, and as much as I have come to love pop country now that I don't live here, I still can't bring myself to participate. Fun Stacy is in town from SF for the weekend and posted this photo to Facebook—they started with general admin tickets and ended up in somebody's suite at LP Field.
Yeah, that is way too many people for me. And if I want to catch a great musical act, it's going to be in a venue with decent acoustics and a capacity less than 500 people.
