high fashion on the political stage

I love Alfred Fiandaca. I mean, his designs are gorgeous, but I love the man. He is ridiculously charming, astoundingly talented, and classically oh so handsome. He was a progenitor of the NY fashion industry, even though its modern scene is a bit bitchy and shallow for his taste. Alfred is, personally, modest and sincere.

He's just past 70 and I can't imagine any smart person not vying to be his boyfriend.

And, as I recall, he can dance.

And the New York Times just ran a profile of Alfred as The Dresser Behind Ann Romney. Very cool.

My mother and grandmother count themselves as clients and friends, and I think my grandmother even did a mature runway show for Alfred once upon a time. Honey was a hot and well-dressed matriarch.

Although I rarely see him anymore (usually just once or twice a year at the Swan Ball or when he shows in Nashville), and he doesn't use e-mail so it's hard to stay in touch, I still consider Alfred a friend. he is so affable and friendly (for a while we were the only two out gay guys at the Ball) I would call him over for drinks when I visited Mac & Emily in Manhattan.

It's nice to see some more flattering press. Alfred has earned it.  And couldn't happen to a sweeter guy.
