with no kisses.
Good Monday everybody. It was a pleasant sunny weekend without major incident nor drama so no ribald narrative this morning.
I went back to acupuncture Friday. Last time it was uneventful--just interesting really. This time it hurt. I am supposed to rest/sleep lying on my back with the needles in various places. However with my apnea, as soon as I relax enough to nod off, my airway closes and I stop breathing then jerk awake as I asphyxiate. So that's not really relaxing or peaceful or making with the good chi. I stopped in for lunch at the counter at Fuzio and sat next to Armistead Maupin. I've met him before but merely nodded an acknowledgment and let the man enjoy his meal in peace.
Saturday was one of the recurring silly shopping and lunching days with Barney--he schedules these dates with me as it is hard to schlep an ironing board or mattress pad from Bloodbath & Beyond on a bicycle. Shilpa also had some BBB needs and we managed a fun day of Tap Plastics, BMW, and BB&B and a sunny, sidewalk brunch on Potrero Hill with RMJ.
We dropped Barney and RMJ off for siestas and Shilpa and I went to watch the sunset and have a cocktail at the Metro. We stayed long enough for me to chat up a young, handsome English ex-pat chain-smoker, who was exceptionally engaging...until we were joined by his boyfriend. This happens to me far too often.
I ended the night with drinks with Lance and Beth & Greg. Lance is a Kiwi and Greg is Polish and the night was a long discussion on American politics and foreign policy. A very different mood than expected as originally we had talked of seeing Flushed Away. But that Beth is always a gas.
Sunday featured a long lazy day of working around the apartment and doing laundry. Ultimately I just curled up with pizza and the Veronica Mars Season DVDs I got with Shilpa at the Tower going-out-of business sale.
Watching so many episodes in a row from the beginning I realized what truly good television this is. One reviewer called her "more Philip Marlow than Nancy Drew." She is written tough and hip, but even so I still keep thinking of Encyclopedia Brown. Nextflix it if you haven't seen it yet.

I CANNOT believe I am not the only one who knows who Encyclopedia Brown is!!! Bugs Meany was the meanest!
