My Favorite Martian

Ever since our summer intern of 2005, Kristen Bell, got me to tune in, I have been in love with Veronica Mars. (Veronica Mars is played by another and equally lovely Kristen Bell.)

Veronica is the modern Nancy Drew, with more Buffy attitude and darker mysteries (let's see, she's been druggged, raped, locked in a box and set on fire, had to expose a pedophile in power, and reveal a mass-murdering teen too close to home).

High school is harder in SoCal.

While the show survived the merger of the WB with UPN into the CW, its future remains murky.

While the show is rife with typical hardbodies and 20-something pop speak, there's plenty of clever to carry it to mature audiences. (I considered giving my parents the DVDs. They love TV mysteries.) My favorite throw-away gag (which I'm sure was lost on the target demographic): When going undercover at a rival high school, Veronica poses as Betty, new transfer from Riverdale. She even complains about the principal, Mr. Weatherbee.

David Spade gets a new show every season, but they may cancel this?
