The shocker over Georgetown was just one of many in a thrilling NCAA Tourney weekend fraught with madness.

Yeah I did pick Davidson. In fact, even RMJ (Georgetown alumnus) thought Davidson would win. We so wanted to watch the game, but were amid the mass (pun intended) at the Irreverent Easter in Dolores Park all day yesterday. We kept up by mobile devices as best we could.

The last time RMJ and I had a hometown sports grudge match, it didn't go so well for me. (One freaking yard. I'm still upset.)

-- Top Human Interest Story, Part II: Davidson's Stephen Curry has been the best player in the tournament, scoring 55 of his 70 tournament points in the second half of upsets of Gonzaga and Georgetown. Most everyone knows by now Curry got no recruiting interest from Atlantic Coast Conference schools even though he grew up in Charlotte, N.C. Even Virginia Tech, where his father, former NBA guard Dell Curry, went to school, wanted Stephen to walk on for a year before getting a scholarship. So Curry picked Davidson over Winthrop, and started his college career by committing 13 turnovers in his first game.

Now he has one of the softest shots you'll ever see.

"He'd shoot from 22 feet and his ball was like he shot it from 5," Gonzaga forward David Pendergraft said.

High praise continues in The LA Times, the Associate Press, and a big spread in The New York Times.

The Davidson Wildcats are in the Sweet Sixteen. Their next game is this Friday at 4:10, when Davidson takes on Wisconsin.

And of course all of the local North Carolina papers are all over it. The about the quality of used toilet paper local rag The Charlotte Observer, which has always been noted for lack of actual journalism or integrity, and has historically taken any and every opportunity to smear nearby Davidson College and all of its "fancy book learnin'," has finally started covering Davidson's recent success. Their slant? Wildcats suddenly media darlings. Bitter much? I imagine the word "tarnation" was used in their newsroom when respected media started publishing positive things about the Cats.
