Lance's new neighbors

My good buddy Lance lived at Dolores and 19th for ages (we crashed there frequently and referred to it as the Dolores Park B&B). Lance's place was next door to the big church at the corner. The church building changed ownership many times over the years and was usually filled with non-conforming use and often served as a homeless shelter and YouNameIt-Anonymous center. The place was never well cared for, and the Jerry-rigged wiring making a web on the exterior walls was frightening, as was the crumbling structure.

After years of neglect and failed turnovers, Lance was happy to learn that the church building was bought by the Academy of Art College.

Boing Boing has news on this property
, with some pretty fancy and I can only assume photoshopped images. NEVER has this building looked so clean. The bricks actually look red in this photo, and anyone who has ever hung out in Dolores Park knows the church is darker and dirtier.

My whole life I have fantasized about converting a church building into a cool private residence, but I am low on the dough to take advantage of this offer.

The church is for sale as a private residence for a cool $10 million.

I hope they have properly renovated the place. And the photos look impressive if not digitally "enhanced." Ten million should get more than a fixer-upper. I don't care how actually cathedral the cathedral ceilings are.
