halfway to the iPhone I'll buy

Apple announced upgrades to the iPhone and the iPod Touch today (for those of you not paying attention, Apple only makes big announcements on Tuesdays).

Both the iPhone and the iPod Touch got double the memory (iPhone to to 16 GB and Touch to 32GB) and will retail for $500 (okay, $499, whatever). Nothing else is new.

According to Pete Mortensen over at the Cult of Mac: "Anyone waiting for 3G data or a GPS chip? [Yes, I am.-ijs] You’ll just have to wait. My guess is we’ll see a true second-generation iPhone in June, for the one-year anniversary of the original’s release date."

Check back in June and I might be all geek aflutter with a new toy.
