After I dropped them off, there was a space on the corner. Feet, knees, and legs were killing me, but it was clearly Meant To Be. I/we love Milton, our favorite server at Harvey's, and I am been promising to catch his act at Esta Noche for maybe a decade, but we never really know when he is going to perform. Just that morning at brunch I was showing him photos and videos I took from his performance at The GlamaZONE Second Anniversary Party, where he as Lulu knocked it the fuck out. Holy crap he's a performer.

I made my way into the bar and I was so very obviously NPLU. As far as I could tell I was the only one who was gringo, could not speak Spanish, and was over 5'6" tall. Seriously, I was The Giant White Guy in this place. I did find my new friends who welcomed me warmly, but I was still getting a lot of up/downs and "not one of us" vibe from the immediate crowd, which I understand.
Then I saw on the stage that Lulu was the host tonight, and was in the middle of a stellar number. And damn she was hot and OWNED that room! Lulu is not just a performer, but a star! I was reaching for some cash to tip her when she saw me from the stage. I guess even past the bright lights she could pick out the 6'3" big country guy out of the crowd of guys all in black who came up to my shoulders. I was greeted excitedly and enthusiastically and all at once I was One of Us and welcomed in the room. So. Much. Fun.

Olé Lulu Ramirez!
