And they call him Sandy Claws!

Yes yes, Santa is an anagram for Satan. And he knows more about you than the Bush administration (when you've been sleeping, if you've been bad or good, etc.)

But really, it's just a Jolly Old Saint Nick-- What's there to be afraid of?

The Scared of Santa Gallery.

Update: I take it back. Santa is scary. Maybe these kids are attune to something. Like that kid in the Sixth Sense.

It seems, at least in Finland, the Santa Clause tradition started out as a bearded guy named Joulupukki (iterally "yule goat"), who "donned horns and an animal hide and covered his face with soot or a bark mask. He travelled from house to house frightening children with his wild dancing and singing, and expected offerings of food and booze. The form this Christmas-time character took varied greatly in different parts of the country. According to some versions of the legend he also brought sticks with which to whip naughty children. Stingy households suffered the goat's insults."

The Reuters story from Yahoo News India.

And if that doesn't creep you out, see the line "At Santa's cabin, age is not an indication of status. While in the days of the yule goat the focus was on the adult pleasures for the often virile young "Santa", children are now at centre stage." Have yourself a NAMLA little Christmas. Yikes.
