Friday night Shilpa and I planned a little quality time with RMJ. Unfortunately more and more work appeared and cut deeply into our quality time. We caught the last few minutes of Friday Nights at the De Young.
Even though there were some very cool new bits on exhibit,

and we started out as somewhat reasonable adults,

we were still our inappropriately silly selves.

Security was not amused.

We dined at the new Brandy Ho's in the Castro (the window seats rival Twin Peaks for the parade), and finished at 440. With the room full of hotness, it was a little more fun for me and RoMo than it was for Shilpa. Just for good measure, she had been pining for a tall handsome cabinetmaker in from Pennsylvania.
Shilpa: Man, he is so hot. I wish I were gay.And then he walked up to the carpenter and got himself some wood.
RoMo: You like that? Okay.
The words "hammered" and "nailed" also spring to mind.
I myself got lost in the adorableness of a bloke who just flew in from Australia.
The words "down under" also spring to mind.
Saturday morning—
At last year's Stompede's silent auction, Shawn bought a package brewery tour and tasting at the Beach Chalet. Shawn's friends are flakes and on Friday it fell to Kevin to repopulate the tour. Among Kevin's friends, it was not difficult to find friends who wanted to take a booze tour first thing Saturday morning. (Eleven o'clock is "first thing" to some of us.)
The Beach Chalet is a brew pub and restaurant. The "brewery" is about the size of my apartment (which is only slightly bigger than a breadbox). We were a fun-loving crew and had an absolute wonderful time. And Adam, Assistant Brewmaster and beer guide, had one of his most entertaining tour groups ever. (He told us he gets lots of old people and even scout groups. I told him the boy scout groups are probably so messy because they can't hold their liquor.)
Shilpa being helped down after inspecting the extraction tank:

Kevin, pantomiming a push: And this is how they make Indian Pale Ale...

Jorge gives it the thumbs up.
I invited the lovely Jason (the Aussie) to join us for the tour and threw him into the mix of my "crazy friends" (define "crazy friends"...). He turned out to be total PLU and we all had a great day.
Of course he had been awake for like 40 hours at this point, and lots and lots of beer just added to the jet lag. He was a trooper and kept up with the rest of the banter.

Jason, Wilson, and Shilpa
Shilpa isn't a beer drinker, and I don't think she's had any beer since her dad gave her sip as a child. The tour came with a pitcher of each of their brews, and she is now suitably knowledgeable on beer varieties.
I do not know if the IPA was her favorite, but it, the red, and the porter were mine.

Yum.
Adam was just a joy of a tour/beer guide and made our afternoon.
Shouts to Adam, and thanks for our new catch phrase "sniff and sip." We wanted to fix up this straight man, but he indicated he wasn't single. Actually, what he said was, "I have a girlfriend and she's a full-time job." I'm thinking we need to set him up with someone requiring a little less maintenance.
We also took some silly photos (duh), and in one photo (which I'll have to get from Jorge) four of us were licking something or someone. That might have been what pushed Adam over the edge (he doesn't get a lot of leather/bear heavy tour groups).
Adam: "Man, that's a lot of man-tongue."
Awesome.
Then there was the question of what to do with the dump bucket.

Dares were made. Money was offered. Neither were taken.
But considered.
I'm just sayin'.
Thanks to Shawn and Kevin for a great morning and afternoon.

We followed up the beer tour with a trip to the Ocean Beach Safeway for sandwiches and wine, picked up Paul Day, and curled up in the amazing San Franciscan sunshine for conversation and naps in Dolores

All in all, a beautiful and lazy Saturday. Although by the end of it I was so exhausted (I haven't had a full night's sleep since early May), I took at nap after I took everyone home and/or delivered to their next event— that meant I got to lie down around 9:30 pm. I didn't open my eyes until 11:00 Sunday. Aaaaaah.
After doing a giant hay bale of laundry, I introduced Jason to El Rio. And made sure he was property outfitted for the sunshine.

As RMJ said this morning, we love our props. But you have to admit he looks born to that hat.

Monday night was spent having a Dine About Town dinner at Foreign Cinema (how did my $32 prix fixe and Shilpa's $17 entrée end up costing us each $80? "Just split the check five ways" my ass...). I did get to spend some quality time with Jason last night before taking him to the airport. He was a pleasure to have around, but Paul Day thinks he was lucky to stumble across me. Hey, it's all about being a good host. And SF came across looking very good, and very welcoming.
Just doing my part for foreign
