a foreign language text you can sink your teeth into

While waiting for the 33 last Saturday, there was a group of early 20s girls waiting near me at the Haight Street @ Stanyan stop. I couldn't help but overhear. And imagine the slight valley girl intonations while you consider this.

Girl 1: "I'm trying to learn Spanish. So I am reading Twilight in Spanish because it is so simple."
(Me, internal thought: "Good for you for recognizing that Twilight is first-grade reading level drivel.")
Girl 2: "What's Spanish for "Sparkly"?
Girl 1: "Has anybody read the original?"
(pause)
Girl 3: "Everybody has but no one will admit it."
Girl 1: "Do they sigh all the time? Every other word in this thing is suspiro."
