If you are what you eat

Then my brother Mac is taking in the nuts by the fistfull.

Saturday is my Dad's birthday. It's his 70th. It's a BIG DEAL. We had begun planning a big hoo ha, but scheduling became such a problem the big party was postponed, and Mom and Dad are spending the birthday weekend with good friends in the mountains of North Carolina.

Although we will be celebrating at a later date, we (the sons) wanted to send something to mark the actual occasion. But not one of us could come up with something sufficiently clever (like for his 65th). They drove off yesterday and we had nothing to send up with them, so Brother Mac ordered a gift basket to be delivered. There were several choices, but with his health, the booze basket, chocolate basket, and junk food basket were not viable options. So Mac sent the "fruit and flowers" basket, which they could all enjoy.

He called me this afternoon to let me know he sent the fruit and flowers basket from all of us (i.e. the three sons). He signed the card with this:

Happy Birthday Dad!
From two bananas and a real fruit.

Tell your dad, "Cheers to another year," and you let me know if you'll be in town for a celebration.
