I have to have a follow up exploratory colonoscopy because of my earlier diverticulitis and occasional flare-ups. I have been playing phone tag with the GI department for a month and still have not set an appointment, largely because I am not looking forward to the experience.
With a friend or two the description of colonoscopy or GI investigation has just been shorthanded to a half-rotating twist, finger-up motion a la Tony the Tiger declaring that his flakes are great, but with much less flourish and infinitely less enthusiasm.
Today the hand sign gained audio accompaniment. The procedure is now referred to as a "hoo ha" or, frankly, just a "yipes!"
From there it just degraded into expected metaphors, such as "you need to schedule that cruise up Moon River."
Ugh.
Some might accuse me of using an elipsis to postpone the colon.

As dead on as the above description is, there really is no substitute for seeing the "hoo-ha" in person.
