The iPad is the dream digital device for comic books. I have bought a couple of DVD archives which has pretty crappy scans of 40 years of various titles, which have been fun to read in a PSD reader, but the best comic experience for me has been using Comic Zeal to read actual digital comic files. Comic Zeal organized comics in long boxes and makes the entire experience pretty awesome (so much better than using a PDF reader). I have found the Marvel and DC apps to be so much more trouble than they are worth.
Marvel has, finally, released a iOS subscription service for their backlog of comics: Marvel Unlimited. That's awesome. Like Netflix streaming for comics. Want to read the past ten years of The X-Men? Just curl up. Want to read an entire story line from The X-Men while on the plane? Well, you're screwed there as the subscription service limits offline reading to only six issues. The blogs are pretty annoyed at that, and rightfully so.
I haven't made my way through my 40 Years of X, Y, Z titles, and some don't hold up as well as I remember, but I think I may check out this service. I have really enjoyed curling up in the loveseat in my bay window with a decade of Spider-Man. It would be fun to see what else I can get my eyes on. '
