Out with ACT: Stuck Elevator

Stuck Elevator, a libretto about an undocumented Chinese delivery guy stuck in an elevator for a weekend, and afraid to call the police for fear of deportation, is an interesting musical romp through Guang's imagination and fears as he suffers his confinement. Many are offering rave reviews.

Personally, I thought it was creatively staged and deftly performed, but only mildly interesting. Stuck Elevator is artful and perhaps topical, but I couldn't get into it, and failed to rise above my inclination to tell him to just ring the bell and get out already. But many of the ditties and the drama of his internal world were delightfully, or tragically, executed. It was certainly some people's cup of tea. For my tastes, it should never have left the black box.

But as usual, Randy and ACT make an Out with ACT night much fun! And shout out to the charming Demetrius who livened the after party.
