According to CurbedSF , which references the more substantial article in the Examiner, the planned "walking grocery store" version of Trader Joe's set to enter the largely vacant space at Market and Noe is being stymied by RadioShack.The best thing about Curbed's coverage is the description of RadioShack as "the batteries-and-speaker-wire purveyor."
It seems that even though the other two remaining businesses in the retail space (the dry cleaners and card shop, the rest formerly occupied by Tower records) have agreed to move, and even though RadioShack also had agreed to move (in writing no less), now they're balking at relocating either upstairs or across the street.
Seriously? It's not like RadioShack does a lot of spontaneous "just walking by" business. One tends to go into RadioShack only if they need something RadioShack-related, e.g. small AV accessories, batteries, or cables. Or you know, conversations employees who have no knowledge of radios, shacks, electronic minutia, or of any of the bits they sell. At least the folks who work at the Castro location are nice.
Anyway, it is always frustrating to see progress stymied by a lone holdout for undisclosed purposes. Although I fear the parking/traffic that is to come from the new TJ's.
