some days just aren't his day

Just got a call from live long friend and hilarity maker Carrington Fox. One of her sons son said something the other day that has kept her laughing for days and she had to share it as one of those things she thought we used to say in our odd shared inside-joke language.

It was Halloween. Everything was different. People were dressed in costumes, and you could take candy from strangers. Everything was weird. The regular rules were not applying.  Her little tyke asked, "Mommy, is today one of those days when Y is a vowel?"

It takes a little processing, but that there is some funny.

And it is akin to one of our throwaway responses when we were the superlative hip twenty-somethings, "Because, you know, sometimes Y..."

One of our other references that we would invoke when appropriate was "Too bad you can't stay..." Which looking back may be one of the things the other vowels back-handedly said to Y at their socials.
